Renault Laguna is a large family car, a unique creation in its class, from the house of French automaker Renault. The Renault 21 is considered as predecessor of Renault Laguna model. The first Laguna model was offered in the year 1993. Then, the second generation, and third generation models were offered in 2000 and 2007 respectively. The third generation Renault Laguna was offered in October 2007.

The first generation Laguna model was offered with both 5-door lift back as well as 5-door estate body styles. The vehicle was designed and offered till 2001. Renault had used FF layout in this car. As a successor to Renault 21, Laguna I was launched in December 1993. The car was equipped with 16 valves, 1598 cc engine.

The car generated power up to 108 hp at 5750 rpm. The torque was up to 148 Nm at the rate of 3750 rpm. It had been observed that the first generation Renault Laguna reached acceleration up to 100km per hour in just 11.5 seconds. Moreover, top speed of this car was up to 121 mph. some other notable features of car were electric front windows, power steering, remote central locking system, diver’s airbag as well as twin airbags, air-conditioning, anti lock braking system, CD player and much more.

Laguna IB was launched in 1998 whose curb weight was about 2712 pound. The length of this model was about 177.5 inches whereas the width and height of the car were 69 inches and 56.4 inches respectively. The cars were also offered with a 66L fuel capacity. Moreover, circular fog lights were designed in the front part of the vehicle.

The curb weight of the car was about 3461 pounds. Moreover, fuel capacity was also increased to 70 L instead of 66L in previous generation cars. Laguna II was re-offered as IIB with improved comfort, driving performance as well as security system in March 2005. An Electronic handbrake system was equipped in this model.

The car was equipped with 2.0 L 1995 cc engine along with 16 valve dCi I4 engine. The car was producing 175 bhp of power. The top speed of this model was noted about 140 mph. These cars were manufactured from 2005 to 2007. Moreover, the car had got acceleration up to 100 km/hr in just 8.4 seconds of time.

The third generation Renault Laguna was launched recently in 2008. Except the previous estate and lift back models, this new model was also offered as a 2-door sedan. The company had announced its launch of new brand saloon in near future.

The third generation Laguna models are more spacious in comparison to its previous generation models with length, width and height of 184.8, 71.3 and 56.9 inches respectively. The curb weight of car is measured to be about 3439 pounds. In terms of fuel capacity, Laguna III model is similar to its first generation models with 66 L of fuel capacity.
